Pacific Heights (1990)

Plot: Idealistic young couple Patty and Drake invest everything they own into buying a beautiful, historic Victorian home in San Francisco's upscale Pacific Heights neighborhood. To help pay off their massive mortgage, they decide to rent out the ground-floor apartments. Their dream quickly morphs into a living nightmare when they rent to Carter Hayes, a smooth-talking con man with dark intentions. Hayes systematically refuses to pay rent, destroys the property from within, and exploits tenant eviction laws to drive the couple into absolute financial ruin. As his psychological terror campaigns push Patty and Drake to the brink, they find themselves locked in a desperate battle to reclaim their home and protect their lives before their worst nightmare destroys them completely.
