Precious (2009)

Plot: In 1987 Harlem, an overweight, illiterate, and severely abused teenager named Clareece "Precious" Jones is pregnant with her second child. When she is expelled from her school, she is given an opportunity to transfer to an alternative school, where an empathetic teacher and a supportive community help her find her voice, her self-worth, and a chance at a completely new life.
