Skipped Parts (2000)

Plot: In 1963, a rebellious and eccentric young mother named Lydia is banished by her wealthy, domineering politician father to a remote, conservative town in Wyoming alongside her bright 14-year-old son, Sam. Left to fend for themselves, Sam essentially acts as the parent to his wildly immature mother while navigating his own awkward adolescence. Desperate to understand the mysteries of adulthood and intimacy, Sam finds an unlikely partner in Maurey, a fierce local girl who is just as curious about the world as he is. Together, they embark on a humorous, rule-breaking coming-of-age journey to figure out life's "skipped parts," while Lydia searches for an escape from her forced exile.
