The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys (2002)

Plot: Growing up in a strict 1970s Catholic school, creative teenagers Francis and Tim escape the suffocating authority of the fierce, one-legged Sister Assumpta by channeling their angst into a collaborative, rebellious comic book. In their vibrant illustrated world, they transform into muscular, larger-than-life superheroes fighting a monstrous nun. Back in reality, the boys balance adolescent first loves, family issues, and increasingly dangerous pranks. When their boundary-pushing plans spiral out of control, their tight-knit bond faces the ultimate, tragic test, forcing them to confront the painful transition from childhood rebellion to real-world maturity.
