The Wiz (1978)

Plot: Dorothy, a shy 24-year-old Harlem schoolteacher, is magically whisked away by a sudden snowstorm into a fantastical, decaying urban wonderland known as the Land of Oz. Stranded far from home, she embarks on a treacherous journey down the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to seek the aid of the mysterious, all-powerful Wiz. Along the way, she patterns an alliance with a garbage-stuffed Scarecrow seeking brains, a rusted Tin Man looking for a heart, and a Cowardly Lion hiding out as a museum statue. Together, the quartet must evade a vibrant underground subway system that springs to life, navigate a mesmerizing poppy den, and confront the wicked sweatshop tyrant Evillene to earn their deepest wishes and find Dorothy's way home.
